<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/52427/superpitch_670.gif" width="670" height="390" width_o="670" height_o="390" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/52427/superpitch_670_o.gif" data-mid="223554" border="0" align="left"/>
MagneCote is magnetic paper that can run through almost any printer, making it the most affordable advertising medium ever. So when sales figures weren't going through the roof, we could only blame ad agencies' poor presentation skills. Obviously, they must not be doing an adequate job of pitching MagneCote's potential to their clients.

To correct the problem, we developed SuperPitch — a presentation simulator to hone their skills at winning new business. Take it for a test drive at www.magnecote.com/superpitch.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/52427/super_pitch_insert2.jpg" width="460" height="586" width_o="460" height_o="586" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/52427/super_pitch_insert2_o.jpg" data-mid="1786774" border="0" align="left"/>
Inserts printed on MagneCote ran in Creativity, to show off metallic inks, perforation, and of course, SuperPitch.com. Meanwhile, sales reps distributed MagneCote samples showing some of the handy uses that the clients from SuperPitch had found for it — craft drawer labels, postage rates reference charts, and grey color matching systems.

For The MagneCote Challenge, we invited several talented agencies to develop PSA concepts for World Bicycle Relief — a non-profit organization that donates bikes to needy areas worldwide — using nothing but MagneCote. The work was judged online by the advertising and design community at large. You can see all of the entries at www.magnecote.com/vote.

Samsung

For the 2012 Summer Olympics, we used the Galaxy S III's NFC sharing technology to stage a virtual passing of the torch.

Recently won a silver Addy
Billboard's Music-Branding Gold Medal List for the Olympics.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/line.jpg" width="670" height="2" width_o="670" height_o="2" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/line_o.jpg" data-mid="22026959" border="0" align="left"/>

More than a few people asked in the YouTube comments section, "Where can I get the flame app?"
So it's a shame that we did not actually develop the larger digital idea below:

The Flame App

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/app_screens.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/app_screens_o.jpg" data-mid="22026036" border="0" align="left"/>
The Flame app works simply.

1. Download an unlit torch
2. Find someone with the flame to light your torch using the Galaxy S III's NFC sharing technology
(by touching your phone to someone else's phone).
3. Light as many other's Galaxy S III torches as possible to rack up points for your city and earn a Closing Ceremonies Event sponsored by Samsung.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/NFC.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/NFC_o.jpg" data-mid="22026249" border="0" align="left"/>
Once the torch app was downloaded, you could light your torch by finding NFC enabled posters around your city.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/torch_pass.gif" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/torch_pass_o.gif" data-mid="22026045" border="0" align="left"/>
Your flame could then be passed to other Galaxy S III owners.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/big_flames.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/big_flames_o.jpg" data-mid="22026057" border="0" align="left"/>
Each passing of the flame would contribute towards a city's collective flame – featured in large digital OOH or building projections. The more the flame is passed, the bigger the collective flames become.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/map.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/map_o.jpg" data-mid="22026065" border="0" align="left"/>
The Flame app would feature a Flame locater so that you could find other people in your area to share the flame with…

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/leaderboard.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/leaderboard_o.jpg" data-mid="22026067" border="0" align="left"/>
…and also a leader board, to see which city was sharing the flame the most and who the top flame passers were in your own city.

<img src="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/closing_ceremonies.jpg" width="670" height="377" width_o="670" height_o="377" src_o="http://payload80.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/3913835/closing_ceremonies_o.jpg" data-mid="22026072" border="0" align="left"/>
At the conclusion of the Olympics, the city with the largest collective flame would play host to a Closing Ceremonies Event, sponsored by Samsung and featuring music, celebration and returning athletes.

SIFF 2012
The Seattle International Film Festival, now in its 36th year, is a 3-week blitz of 600 films from over 70 countries. For this year's campaign we did our best to capture that amount of cinematic diversity in a single kaleidoscopic poster and an energetic :60 second Busby Berkeley-style trailer.

Theatrical Trailer
Awarded two pencils by The One Show, two gold ADDYS in Seattle and two silver ADDYS at the district level. Also featured in the 2012 Communication Arts Design Annual.

Poster
Graphis Poster Annual Finalist
This was a beast to work on. Expectations for the SIFF work are very high every year at Wongdoody. The festival poster is always a campaign centerpiece and tends to inform the design of everything else. We went through several versions before settling on this mac crashing layout.

WGU Washington
You've probably never heard of Western Governors University. That’s because unlike many other online universities, they don't spend much money on advertising. WGU puts its students' tuition towards providing high quality, accessible, and affordable educations for working adults – not towards stadium sponsorships and big profits (Phoenix).

However, when WGU was endorsed by the state of Washington, it became the state’s only all-online, nonprofit university. That’s big news. So, we decided to make a big splash. We bought a huge billboard in the middle of the state, in Ephrata, where everyone could see it.

(The following spot launched the campaign on TV)

For those Washington state residents that didn't happen to be driving through Ephrata anytime soon, we had a web cam of the billboard, broadcasting live billboard action 24/7.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_webcam_still.jpg" width="670" height="399" width_o="670" height_o="399" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_webcam_still_o.jpg" data-mid="11905795" border="0" align="left"/>

Of course, there were a lot of other things that people should know about WGU Washington, such as the fact that it's fully accredited; it has a unique competency based model; and how it's received a lot of good press for providing an accessible education. So, we started adding things to the billboard. A starburst, a sash, an over-sized magazine reprint dangling from a pole…

(The following spots continued to roll out the campaign over the next couple of months)

Our banner ads were so interactive that people had to literally turn their computer monitors sideways in order to read them.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_banner_ad.jpg" width="670" height="399" width_o="670" height_o="399" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_banner_ad_o.jpg" data-mid="11905796" border="0" align="left"/>

For those Washington residents who weren't going to be driving through Ephrata anytime soon, who don't have the internet, but who do still read newspapers…we ran an ad about the billboard there too.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_newspaper.jpg" width="670" height="707" width_o="1600" height_o="1690" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_newspaper_o.jpg" data-mid="11905261" border="0" align="left"/>

And we received some free P.R. from the Grant County Journal – the local Ephrata paper.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_press.jpg" width="670" height="271" width_o="670" height_o="271" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2367769/WGU_press_o.jpg" data-mid="11906363" border="0" align="left"/>

After some time, we took the billboard on the road and visited a few real-life WGU Washington students. Because after all, not everyone has time to drive to Ephrata to see the billboard.

(It's worth noting that by the time we reached this "second phase" of the campaign, WGU Washington had already met its 2011-12 enrollment goals. So now we know…billboard advertising still works!)

By the time the billboard campaign ran its course, new student enrollment had risen 287%. That made the first advertising campaign in WGU Washington's history also the most successful advertising campaign in WGU Washington's history.

Alaska Airlines
I worked on two major promotions for Alaska Airlines durning my stint at Wongdoody. One focused on Alaska residents and one focused on Californians.

Club 49
Over the years, Alaska Airlines has grown from a local carrier into an international airline, expanding from Barrow to Mexico City. However, other low cost carriers are now considering new routes into Anchorage and other Alaskan towns.

To let their most loyal customers know how much they mean to the airline, we created Club 49, a benefits program exclusively for Alaska residents. It was an instant success with tens of thousands of Alaskans signing up on the program's very first day.

Alaskafornia
To boost their Mileage Plan membership in California, Alaska decided to offer $50 off any flight, just for signing up. And because most Californians didn't know that they could fly to Hawaii and Mexico on Alaska without having a layover in Anchorage, we created the mythical country of Alaskafornia to dramatize all of the places Alaska Airlines could take them.

Digital / OOH
At several Kiosks and storefronts dressed up as Alaskafornia Passport offices and Board of Tourism offices, Californians could register for Alaskafornian citizenship (i.e. sign up for the Alaska Mileage Program) and pick up Alaskafornia tourism brochures.
<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs.jpeg" width="670" height="518" width_o="670" height_o="518" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs_o.jpeg" data-mid="26875594" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs-1.jpeg" width="670" height="381" width_o="670" height_o="381" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs-1_o.jpeg" data-mid="26875597" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs-2.jpeg" width="670" height="494" width_o="670" height_o="494" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/353lbs-2_o.jpeg" data-mid="26875598" border="0" align="left"/>

After registering, they would receive a digital passport in their email.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/passport_email.jpeg" width="670" height="426" width_o="670" height_o="426" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/passport_email_o.jpeg" data-mid="26875648" border="0" align="left"/>

And of course we created the requisite Alaskafornia facebook page where anyone could tag their Alaskafornia vacation photos and share them with their friends.

<img src="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/facebook_page.jpeg" width="670" height="445" width_o="670" height_o="445" src_o="http://payload3.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/2368257/facebook_page_o.jpeg" data-mid="26875688" border="0" align="left"/>

TGI Friday's Entrees For One
TGI Friday's frozen meals – a Heinz product – was the most tested campaign that I've ever worked on. Did our favorite scripts die horrible deaths by the pitiless commentary of mall walking moms? Yes, but the spot that survived the qualitative and quantitative gauntlet was still fun enough to show you here.

Edward Jones
C-K won the Edward Jones business with the strategy, "face time and think time matter." What some would perceive as Edward Jones' weaknesses (small markets, one agent per office) are actually its greatest strengths (locations near you, personal attention from a financial adviser).

I've worked on various online projects for Edward Jones. A few of my favorite banners are below.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_pixels_away.gif" width="670" height="528" width_o="670" height_o="528" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_pixels_away_o.gif" data-mid="2011766" border="0" align="left"/>

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_calculator.gif" width="670" height="528" width_o="670" height_o="528" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_calculator_o.gif" data-mid="3016971" border="0" align="left"/>

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/around_corner.gif" width="670" height="528" width_o="670" height_o="528" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/around_corner_o.gif" data-mid="3018138" border="0" align="left"/>

A few banners ran on MLB.com. All used baseball tie-ins to relate the best features of Edward Jones – locations near you and financial adviser accessibility.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_broken_window.gif" width="670" height="528" width_o="670" height_o="528" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_broken_window_o.gif" data-mid="5477990" border="0" align="left"/>

By pulling from a live data feed, game times in the headline below were always current.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_schedules.gif" width="670" height="528" width_o="670" height_o="528" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/5622/449600/EJ_schedules_o.gif" data-mid="5477995" border="0" align="left"/>

Squirt III — A sequel to the Corona classic, Squirt. You know, the one where the guy gets caught looking at the hot girl in the white bikini and his girlfriend squirts him with a lime. Well, there were a couple of follow up spots created to continue the story. This is one of 'em.
